Friday 13th - Part 2

Last time, I talked about how the 13th of any month is more likely to land on a Friday than any other day and how there was an irrational superstition against both the day Friday, and the entirely innocent number, 13.

In fact, the prejudice against poor old 13 reaches up into the Arctic. There is the oft-quoted Norse myth of 12 Norse gods (Odin, and 11 close god friends) having an intimate dinner party at Valhalla.

Loki, the god of mischief, gatecrashed the party, and convinced Hoder (or Hod), the blind god of darkness-winter, to attack Balder the Beautiful (or Good).
